Zirl A. Hopkins III, known to most as Bubba Hopkins, began playing the fiddle at the age of 6. Inspired by his grandparents, Moss and Donna Thompson, and taught by Dave and Monte Gaylord in the style of Ace Sewell, Bubba is the 2005 Oklahoma State Fiddle Champion and a two-time Oklahoma Junior State Fiddle Champion and has placed in contests throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kansas, Tennessee, Illinois, and Idaho. |
