The town takes its name from the Miami Indians and is pronounced "My-am-uh". Wayland C. Lykins was the son of a missionary to the Peoria Indians. He wanted to be a cattle rancher and so came to Indian Territory where there would be plenty of grazing land. Continuing to follow his dream, he went to Washington D.C., got the town site of Miami approved, and on March 2, 1891, Miami became the first chartered town in Indian Territory. |

Trail rides are offered every day except for Tuesday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Easter Sunday. Reservations are required and it takes a minimum of two people to make a reservation. If you are a single and would like to take a trail ride,we would be happy to add you to another reservation. Children need to be a minimum of 4 years old and ride on a pony which is led by the trail guide. We do not allow riding double.
