Diehl Aero-Nautical is a family owned company founded in 1981 as an aircraft design and manufacturing enterprise.  Our company founder, Dan Diehl, began developing the knowledge and expertise which the company was based on by building and flying the first amateur built KR-2 experimental aircraft while in college.  He then began supplying composite parts for the home built aircraft community.  The company has continued to grow over the last 35 years, venturing into industrial and other fields of custom construction with over 15,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing capability. Diehl Aero-Nautical qualifies as a small, woman owned business.

Over the years, our success has been built on long-standing, cooperative relationships with our clients. Much of our business is done in collaboration with our customers, working closely together, and at times through an ongoing refinement process, and at a competitive price. We are not finished with a project until the the client is happy. This commitment to integrity applies to our employees as well, with most of our technicians having worked with the company for 15 years or more.

Diehl Aero-Nautical over the years:

  • 1981 - Diehl Aero-Nautical was founded in Jenks, Oklahoma.
  • 1981 - The XTC, an ultralight amphibious aircraft, was developed by the company, with kits sold to customers around the globe.
  • 1984 - Diehl Aero took a first foray into manufacturing custom products for the aerospace industry by building the Drop Sonde (an atmospheric testing instrument) and two unmanned aircraft for Aeromet.
  • 1988 - With FlightSafety, Diehl Aero built fiberglass components for flight simulators.  These products have since become the majority of Diehl Aero's business, supplying cockpit shells and other structural and cosmetic parts to more than a dozen companies in the flight simulator industry.
  • 1990 - A series of lighthouses were designed, built and installed on locations across Grand Lake, Oklahoma, continuing and expanding Diehl Aero's experience in custom design and construction.
  • 1991 - Venturi tubes and other flow metering equipment were built for Badger Meter Inc and now Wyatt Engineering.  Such industrial application products have remained an ongoing part of the company's business.
  • 1992 - With Oklahoma State University, the company built one of the largest wind tunnels owned by an academic institution for aerospace research.
  • 2005 - Expanding on its long experience in the flight simulator industry, Diehl Aero built an over sized cockpit shell of an Airbus A320 which is still on display in the Smithsonian Air and Space museum in Washington, DC.  
  • 2014 - In cooperation with L3-Communications, Diehl Aero built several air frames for the Grey Eagle unmanned aircraft. These full scale models (56 ft wing span) are used in the field for maintenance training.
